“Tottenham Insider Reveals: Urgent Loan Offer Placed for Spurs Star, Eleventh-Hour Approval Urged!”

February 1, 2024

John Wenham has expressed his support for Tottenham Hotspur’s decision to send Alejo Veliz on loan to Sevilla for the season’s remainder.

Late on 31 January, David Ornstein broke the news on his X profile that the Spanish club showed interest in acquiring Veliz temporarily.

The deal on the table is a pure loan without an option for a permanent transfer, and Tottenham is expected to make a decision on this proposal today.

Veliz has been sidelined since injuring his knee during a 3-1 victory over Bournemouth at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on New Year’s Eve.

Prior to his injury, he had contributed one goal in eight substitute appearances in the Premier League for Ange Postecoglou’s team. Veliz joined Spurs in the summer from Rosario Central for £13 million, as reported by BBC Sport on 8 August 2023.

In an exclusive conversation with Tottenham News, Wenham remarked: “It seems like Veliz is a secondary choice for Sevilla. It appears they have another primary target in mind, but with the transfer window drawing to a close today, they need to have multiple options ready.

“However, they’ve put forward an offer, and personally, I believe we should take it.

“Jamie Donley showed promise in his appearance against Brentford, and with Dane Scarlett returning, offloading Veliz on loan makes sense for us, especially for his growth.

“Sevilla is a prestigious club with several Argentinian players in its ranks, which should ease Veliz’s integration.

In essence, it’s a beneficial arrangement. Assuming Veliz is nearing his comeback from injury, now is the perfect time to arrange a loan for him. Then, we can bring him back for the preseason tour next summer to assess his progress.”
