RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins has disclosed that Tottenham Hotspur are keenly interested in securing Nantes’ young talent, Bastien Meupiyou.
In recent times, it’s become clear that Tottenham has pivoted towards a recruitment policy focused on identifying and acquiring the most promising young players globally.
This strategy has borne fruit for Spurs, with players such as Destiny Udogie and Pape Sarr on the path to stardom.
Continuing with this approach, Tottenham is now reportedly eyeing Bastien Meupiyou, signaling their intention to invest in youthful prospects.
Both Manchester City and Tottenham have shown interest in the 17-year-old Meupiyou, who has impressed both as a centre-back and a defensive midfielder. His performances have not only led to a breakthrough into Nantes’ first team this season but have also attracted attention from top clubs.
Despite the interest, Hawkins notes that a move away from Nantes for Meupiyou is unlikely before the transfer window’s 11 pm deadline tonight.
Additionally, despite an attempt from Lens to secure the young defender with a bid this month, Nantes has rejected their approach.
With Meupiyou’s talent on the radar of several clubs, the competition for the French Under-18 international is expected to intensify as the next summer transfer window approaches.
