West Ham United’s Chairman, David Sullivan, is reportedly dissatisfied with the club’s Technical Director, Tim Steidten, following a less-than-stellar January transfer window, according to inside sources at Football Insider.
An insider familiar with the situation disclosed that Sullivan’s disappointment stems from a particular transfer opportunity that failed to materialize, leaving the club’s acquisition efforts wanting. Despite successfully securing Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips on loan, Sullivan had anticipated a more ambitious haul from the winter window, directly attributing the shortfall to Steidten’s oversight.
This discontent comes despite Steidten’s pivotal role in the previous summer’s transfer window, where his efforts brought Edson Alvarez, Mohammed Kudus, and James Ward-Prowse to the London Stadium. These signings have been impactful, albeit not enough to avert a slump in form for the Hammers.
Adding to the drama, Steidten is currently rumored to be a top pick for the Liverpool Director of Football position, a development he has not dismissed and described as an “honour”. His connections, notably with Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen, add layers to the speculation, especially with Alonso tipped to be Jurgen Klopp’s successor at Liverpool.
