Sean Dyche is eager for Everton to bounce back to victory in their upcoming challenging match against Brighton on Saturday, 24 February, following a tough game against Crystal Palace on Monday, 19 February, which saw them salvage a 1-1 draw thanks to a late goal from Amadou Onana.
Dyche is aware that sticking to the same lineup won’t catalyze the turnaround Everton needs. Hence, a few tweaks to the team are anticipated.
Anticipated Changes in Everton’s Lineup
Onana’s performance against Crystal Palace was described as “incredible” by Michael Owen, making him an undeniable choice for the starting eleven. Onana, when in peak condition, stands out as the premier midfielder for Everton and is expected to replace Idrissa Gueye.
Gueye’s recent performance, with only 33 percent accuracy in his long passes against Palace and losing half of his aerial duels, contrasts sharply with Onana’s ability, highlighted by his goal-scoring header.
Jack Harrison Expected to Play
At 38, Ashley Young’s tenure as a winger is well behind him, and while he has adapted to playing as a full-back, his performance in this position is not without its issues. However, with Ben Godfrey adequately covering the right-back position, there appears no justification for Young to reclaim this role.
Dyche faces the tough decision to sideline the experienced former Manchester United and Aston Villa player in favor of Jack Harrison. Harrison brings more speed, agility, and a higher goal threat to the team and is a more natural fit for the right winger position than Young.
