Neil Redfearn has expressed concern for Leicester City’s resilience after their recent 3-1 defeat by Leeds United at Elland Road, highlighting a noticeable collapse in the final stages of the match.
Leeds’ late surge, scoring three goals in the final ten minutes, not only clinched the victory but also narrowed Leicester’s lead at the top of the table to six points. This loss, paired with another in their previous match, has raised questions about Leicester’s ability to maintain their once-dominant position in the league.
Redfearn, speaking on BBC Radio Leeds, emphasized the alarming manner in which Leicester seemed to lose their composure following Leeds’ equalizing goal. He criticized Leicester’s defensive organization and their inability to close down Leeds’ attackers effectively, allowing for critical mistakes and subsequently, Leeds’ decisive goals.
“The worrying thing for Leicester is how they crumbled after Leeds equalised,” Redfearn remarked, pointing out Leicester’s defensive disarray and lack of control that led to their downfall.
As Leeds aims to continue their pursuit of the Championship title, keeping competitors like Ipswich and Southampton at arm’s length, Leicester must address these vulnerabilities to avoid further jeopardizing their lead.
