Initially, it appeared Leicester City had the upper hand when Wout Faes netted for the visitors at Elland Road just 15 minutes into the match. However, Connor Roberts’ equalizer in the 80th minute sparked a turnaround, with Archie Gray and Patrick Bamford adding two more goals late in the game to seal Leeds’ 3-1 victory.
In a post-match video shared by the official Leeds United X account, Ampadu can be heard exclaiming, “That was a huge, huge game, wasn’t it?” as he made his way down the tunnel. This gesture seems to directly reference Maresca’s pre-match comments, where the Leicester City manager emphasized the magnitude of the game, stating, “It’s a huge, huge, huge game for them. For us, it’s one more game.”
With their sights set on a crucial FA Cup showdown against Chelsea on Wednesday, followed by a clash against Huddersfield over the weekend, Leeds will aim to maintain their momentum as they continue their pursuit of Championship success.
