Bournemouth’s head coach, Andoni Iraola, has spoken about the potential for Leeds United’s loanee, Jaidon Anthony, to return to his squad in the future.
Anthony initially transferred to Leeds as part of a deal that saw Luis Sinisterra move to Bournemouth at the end of the summer transfer window. Despite playing a significant role for Bournemouth at the start of the season, Anthony has struggled to secure a regular spot in Leeds’ starting lineup, only starting two Championship games, with his last start dating back to October.
Given these circumstances, it seems improbable that Leeds will opt for a permanent transfer for Anthony, regardless of which league they find themselves in next season.
In a conversation with the Daily Echo, when quizzed about Anthony’s situation, Iraola indicated a willingness to welcome Anthony back into the fold at Bournemouth.
Iraola expresses openness to Anthony’s return
He remarked, “Yes, I’ve always mentioned it. I appreciate Jaidon both as a player and a person. He played an important part in our season opener in August.
“I believe he’s an excellent addition to any squad due to his versatility and reliability across multiple positions. Deploying Jaidon means you can count on his unwavering effort and work-rate.”
While Anthony has had limited opportunities to showcase his abilities at Leeds, especially with Crysencio Summerville’s outstanding performances off the left, he has made some noteworthy contributions, particularly in the FA Cup. His recent performance included two assists against Chelsea and a notable goal in the round before against Plymouth Argyle. Despite these flashes of potential, they haven’t been sufficient for him to secure a more consistent role.
Should Anthony make his way back to Bournemouth, it’s expected that Leeds supporters would hold no grudge. Anthony has been recognized for his dedication and professionalism, never publicly expressing dissatisfaction over his limited playing time.
