“Mind-Blowing Update: Celtic and Rangers Shockingly on Verge of Losing Out on Free Agent to Legendary Paolo Maldini!”

Celtic and Rangers may now face disappointment in their pursuit of Gijs Smal as Feyenoord have reportedly reached an agreement with the left-back, according to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The latest update on Gijs Smal for fans of Celtic and Rangers is not what they were hoping for. Originally, Celtic had shown interest in signing the FC Twente defender on a free transfer as his contract is set to expire this summer. Brendan Rodgers was on the lookout for a new left-back following Alexandro Bernabei’s departure from Celtic Park. Reports from Voetbal International suggested that Rangers had also entered the race for Smal’s signature.

However, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Feyenoord is now on the verge of finalizing a deal with Smal, who has turned down offers from other clubs. While the player’s agreement with Feyenoord is yet to be formally confirmed, it seems like a verbal pact is in place, and the signing is imminent.

Gijs Smal, who has made 20 appearances for FC Twente this season, with one assist and two yellow cards to his name, was seen as a promising prospect for both Brendan Rodgers and Philippe Clement. Often compared to Paolo Maldini in his native country for his exceptional defensive performances, Smal, nicknamed Smaldini, could have been a valuable addition for either Celtic or Rangers, given his age of just 26.

Despite the disappointment of missing out on Gijs Smal, Celtic and Rangers will now have to turn their attention elsewhere in their search for a left-back, with Feyenoord looking set to secure the Dutch defender’s services.
