Scotland’s defensive lineup took another blow as Scott McKenna was ruled out of the upcoming friendlies against Netherlands and Northern Ireland due to injury. The center-back, who had been nursing an injury upon joining the squad earlier in the week, will miss both Friday’s match in Amsterdam and the clash against Northern Ireland on Tuesday in Glasgow. McKenna, recently back in action with FC Copenhagen after a loan spell from Nottingham Forest, joins Grant Hanley on the sidelines, leaving manager Steve Clarke with limited options in defense.

With Hanley also out nursing an ankle problem, Clarke now faces a shortage of center-backs, relying on John Souttar, Ryan Porteous, Jack Hendry, and Liam Cooper as his primary choices. However, makeshift defensive solutions could see Kieran Tierney slotting in on the left side of a back three and midfielders Scott McTominay and Kenny McLean stepping up when needed. As of now, no replacements have been announced for either Hanley or McKenna.
