Mark Robins has recently discussed Luis Binks’ future as the Coventry City loan defender prepares to head back to Italy to rejoin his parent club Bologna. The 22-year-old central defender completed his loan stint with the Sky Blues by playing his final match in the 2-1 defeat against Queens Park Rangers at the CBS Arena. Throughout the season, Binks made 23 appearances across various competitions. Despite having two more years left on his contract with Serie A side Bologna, Binks has expressed his desire for a permanent return to English football.
While Binks didn’t see as much game time as he would have liked at Coventry City this season, he left a strong impression on fans and the manager with an impressive performance against Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final. However, an Achilles injury disrupted his momentum, delaying his return until the final match of the season.
When asked about Binks’ future and the possibility of a permanent deal, Robins acknowledged his potential, stating, “I think Binksy has shown his quality. He’s a young center-back with promising talent, particularly in his ball-playing abilities. He still has areas to improve defensively, as do all young players. We have a youthful backline, and they will need to learn from their mistakes.”
Robins also praised Binks for his contribution to the team, mentioning his positive impact in the dressing room. While nothing is certain regarding Binks’ future at Coventry City, Robins hinted at the possibility of keeping in touch with the player and exploring potential opportunities in the future, emphasizing that several factors will come into play in making such decisions.
