Ipswich Town are gearing up to retain Omari Hutchinson as they prepare for their maiden season in the Premier League following a triumphant loan spell from Chelsea.
Having initially struggled after joining Ipswich last summer, the 20-year-old rose to prominence and became a vital player for the team under the leadership of Kieran McKenna.
Following Ipswich’s successful automatic promotion to the Premier League, Hutchinson has expressed his interest in extending his stay with the club for another season.
Mark Ashton, the chief executive of Ipswich, expressed his enthusiasm about the possibility of Hutchinson remaining with the team under McKenna’s guidance for the upcoming season.
“It’s still early days,” remarked Ashton in an interview with the East Anglian Daily Times. “The progress Kieran has made with Omari has been remarkable—from a peripheral figure to a key player who significantly impacted the team.”
While expressing Ipswich’s desire to retain Hutchinson, Ashton acknowledged that discussions with Chelsea, the player’s agent, and his family need to take place before any decisions are made.
“After the initial emotional response of wanting to stay following promotion, we need to allow things to settle down and engage in constructive conversations with all parties involved,” Ashton explained.
Recognizing Hutchinson’s exceptional talent and recent standout performances, Ashton emphasized the importance of a thorough evaluation alongside McKenna to determine the best way forward for the club.
