Calum Crowe has fired back at Simon Jordan’s critiques of Scottish football in anticipation of the upcoming cup final between Rangers and Celtic on Saturday, May 25th.

With the Gers set to clash with their Glasgow rivals in the Scottish Cup final, and Manchester City going head-to-head with Manchester United in the FA Cup final, Jordan has raised concerns about the quality of football in Scotland.

In a recent article in the Scottish Daily Mail (page 77, 24 May), the former Crystal Palace owner criticized Scottish football, deeming it dull and even went on to suggest that Celtic and Rangers would struggle in the English Championship.

Responding to Jordan’s comments, Crowe expressed his disagreement, stating, “Jordan’s assertion that Scottish football is boring in comparison to football down south is simply absurd.”

While acknowledging Jordan’s right to his opinion about Scottish football, Crowe contested the essence of his remarks by highlighting that the football quality in Scotland does not match that of England.

Crowe also contested Jordan’s extreme notion that either Rangers or Celtic would be at risk of relegation from the Premier League, deeming it far-fetched and unwarranted.

Despite the recognition of differences in quality between Scottish and English football, Crowe argued that both Rangers and Celtic boast talented players, including international stars with significant European experience, making it hard to believe that either team would struggle against mid-table Premier League sides like Burnley, Sheffield United, or Luton Town.
