Sheffield Wednesday are poised to announce the signing of Swedish midfielder Svante Ingelsson, with the 26-year-old having officially penned a contract with the Owls.

The former Sweden Under-21 international arrives at Hillsborough following a stint with German second-tier side Hansa Rostock. Ingelsson’s move comes after Hansa Rostock’s relegation from the 2. Bundesliga, providing the catalyst for the midfielder’s switch to English football.

Manager Danny Rohl has been keen to bring Ingelsson to Sheffield Wednesday, and the club has been diligent in securing the deal. According to Swedish daily Aftonbladet, Ingelsson has signed his contract and is now set to be formally unveiled as a Wednesday player, potentially as early as Friday.

Ingelsson’s career trajectory began at Swedish club Kalmar before a move to Italian side Udinese in 2017. In his most recent season with Hansa Rostock, he made 30 league appearances, accumulating nine yellow cards along the way.

Rohl will be expecting Ingelsson to make a significant contribution to Sheffield Wednesday’s campaign next season, as the Owls aim for success in the Championship.
