Sheffield Wednesday star swiftly joins fierce Club just days post exit from Owls

Juan Delgado is aiming to rejuvenate his career after parting ways with Sheffield Wednesday this summer.

The 31-year-old initially joined the Owls nearly a year ago as the first signing under manager Xisco Munoz. Coming from Paços Ferreira, Delgado faced a challenging stint in England, which was further complicated by a hip injury in October that ended his season and required surgery.

Now, after his departure from the club, Delgado has returned to Chile, signing a short-term contract with Everton de Viña del Mar just days after his contract with Sheffield Wednesday expired. The Chilean club confirmed the news Tuesday night via Twitter, stating, “Juan Antonio Delgado Baeza is a new Evertonian player and becomes the second reinforcement for the second round of the season!”

The versatile right-sided player arrives from Sheffield Wednesday in the English Championship to tackle the challenges of the Torneo Nacional and the Copa Chile. Delgado has committed to our club as a free player until the end of the 2025 season.

During his tenure at Hillsborough, the Chile international played 12 games and scored one goal, securing victory only once when the Owls narrowly beat Stockport County in the Carabao Cup last August.
