Player’s West Brom Agreement Goes up in Flames as Astonishing Move to Ipswich Town, Sheffield United, or Luton Town Looms Large

July 4, 2024

Nottingham Forest’s Lewis O’Brien, the 25-year-old midfielder, is currently catching the eye of several Premier League and Championship clubs, signaling strong interest in his services.

Expected to depart from the City Ground in the near future as part of Forest’s squad reduction strategy, O’Brien has featured sparingly, making just 15 appearances across all competitions following his £8 million move from Huddersfield Town. A potential loan move to West Bromwich Albion in January 2023 fell through last minute, leading him to briefly ply his trade with DC United in the US in March of the same year, where he played 19 times.

Current reports suggest that Ipswich Town, Sheffield United, Preston North End, Luton Town, and Norwich City are all in the race to secure O’Brien’s signature this transfer window. While Forest is willing to entertain offers, with a preference for a permanent transfer, no formal bids have been tabled yet. Ipswich, newly promoted to the Premier League, appears to be the frontrunners for his services.

The Blades, eyeing O’Brien as a potential replacement for Oliver Norwood as they return to the Championship, could offer a fitting platform for the midfielder. On the other hand, Luton Town, having dropped down from the top flight, stands as an intriguing alternative destination for O’Brien’s next career move.
