Luton Town Set to Drop Megaton Bombshell with Controversial Signing, Four-Year Deal Secured

July 5, 2024

Shandon Baptiste is set to pen a four-year deal with Luton Town in an official announcement scheduled for later this Friday, as sources disclosed to Football Insider.

The final stages of the agreement are being ironed out at Luton’s training base, following a successful negotiation with the player. Luton moved swiftly to secure the services of Baptiste, 26, on a free transfer post his exit from Brentford, a detail initially broken by Football Insider.

The midfielder emerges as a key target for the club, who have been actively reinforcing the squad after the departures of Ross Barkley, Luke Berry, and Albert Sambi Lokonga earlier in the transfer window. Baptiste’s proficiency in securing promotions from the Championship, coupled with his Premier League experience, made him an attractive proposition.

Having amassed 78 appearances for Brentford, including 55 outings in the Premier League, Baptiste’s decision to leave came after a season where he saw limited playing time. Luton’s management, led by Rob Edwards, saw an opportunity to inject talent and depth to their squad following relegation, with eyes firmly set on a swift return to the top flight in the upcoming campaign.
