Sheffield United Secures Sensational Signing of Leeds United-Linked Ex-Aston Villa Star for Mega Four-Year Deal

July 15, 2024

Former Coventry City and Aston Villa playmaker Callum O’Hare is poised to sign a four-year deal with Sheffield United. After his contract with Coventry expired, O’Hare entered the free agent market and quickly attracted interest from multiple clubs. Leeds United was among those interested but have seemingly been outmaneuvered by their Yorkshire rivals.

According to Tom Collomosse of the Daily Mail, O’Hare is currently undergoing a medical at Sheffield United in preparation for joining Chris Wilder’s squad for the 2024/25 season. He is set to become the club’s third summer signing, following the free transfer arrivals of Jamie Shackleton and Sam McCallum. The Blades are also reportedly close to securing the signing of striker Kieffer Moore from AFC Bournemouth.

O’Hare developed his skills in Aston Villa’s academy and was capped by England at the under-20 level. Despite his potential, he never managed to break into Villa’s first team. He was loaned out to Carlisle United and Coventry City, ultimately joining the latter on a permanent basis in 2020. O’Hare played a crucial role in helping Coventry win the League One title while on loan and became a key player for the club in the Championship.

Although Leeds missed out on O’Hare, they have strengthened their squad with the addition of attack-minded midfielder Joe Rothwell, who has joined on a season-long loan from AFC Bournemouth.
