Celtic are reportedly open to either a loan or permanent transfer for Odin Thiago Holm, according to Football Insider. Holm recently completed a loan spell at Fleetwood Town, where he stood out as one of their top performers despite a challenging season for the club. The 21-year-old made 46 appearances in all competitions for Fleetwood last season and hopes this experience will bolster his chances of breaking into Celtic’s first team. So far, Holm has only made one senior appearance for Celtic, a brief three-minute stint against Morton in the Scottish Cup, and has been an unused substitute three times.

Earlier this month, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers sent a clear message to Holm, stating that he needs to elevate his performance if he wants to secure a spot with the Scottish Premiership champions. “They need to be at a much higher level,” Rodgers said. “If you’re going to play for Celtic, you have to be. Odin needs to do more. There’s something there, though, absolutely. And that’s why we persevere, and that’s why we stay with it, because he has talent, like Holm, and that’s why we want to give them the opportunity, so I can see them in pre-season.

“But it’s just running more. You have to run. Without the ball, you’ve got to run, you’ve got to be bright, you’ve got to be in good positions to press the game, then to get the ball and take the ball.

“So I think the two boys (Holm and Lawal) that you mentioned have talent. But I want more. A lot more. Talent is not just enough. You can play in teams, but not in our team.”

If Celtic decide to loan out Holm for further development, Birmingham City could be an ideal destination. Chris Davies, who has worked under Rodgers at various clubs and is a close friend, could be entrusted to help Holm develop in a team aiming for success in League One.
