DERBY COUNTY ON THE VERGE OF LANDMARK SIGNING OF PREMIER LEAGUE SENSATION, DEAL COULD BE COMPLETED NEXT WEEK

July 21, 2024

Derby County are currently leading the race to secure a loan move for a promising Premier League youngster.

Throughout the transfer window, Derby County manager Paul Warne has been vocal about his desire to bring in new players and strengthen specific positions. While his primary focus is currently on signing a goalkeeper, an ongoing complication has delayed the confirmation of a deal.

Midfield signings have also been a priority, with Warne aiming to bring in “three or four more midfielders,” despite already securing Ben Osborn, Kenzo Goudmijn, and a permanent deal for Ebou Adams following his impressive loan spell last season.

Warne appears to be on track to meet his midfield targets, as Derby County is now expected to sign Crystal Palace’s David Ozoh. According to Darren Witcoop on X, the Rams “lead the race” for the young midfielder, with a deal likely to be completed next week. Derby County have managed to move ahead of “four Championship clubs” in the race for the Spanish-born defensive midfielder, who has made 10 Premier League appearances at just 19 years old.

David Ozoh is seen as an ideal utility signing for Derby County. Although primarily a defensive midfielder, Ozoh’s versatility allows him to play anywhere in central midfield, fitting perfectly into Warne’s plans. Warne’s goal of adding “three or four” more midfielders may seem ambitious, especially given the need to also strengthen the goalkeeping position and bring in a striker.

Ozoh’s ability to adapt to various roles in midfield makes him a crucial addition. Despite his raw talent and Premier League experience, the 19-year-old is seen by Warne as a blank canvas, ready to be molded into any role needed in the center of the park.
