Sunderland Midfielder Set to Devastate Derby County with Earth-Shattering Return to Blackpool for Ultimate Redemption

Blackpool are on the verge of securing the signing of Sunderland midfielder Elliot Embleton, as reports suggest. The 25-year-old is well acquainted with Bloomfield Road, having previously impressed during a loan spell in 2021, contributing with two goals and four assists in 21 appearances that helped Blackpool secure promotion to the Championship through the League One play-offs under Neil Critchley’s management.

Roker Report reveals that Embleton has undergone a medical examination in anticipation of a permanent return to the Fylde Coast. A two-year contract is reportedly on the horizon for the player who began his career at Middlesbrough before moving to Sunderland.

Having progressed through Sunderland’s youth ranks, Embleton has amassed 92 senior appearances for the club, notching 11 goals and providing 10 assists. Aside from his loan stint at Blackpool, he has also had spells with Grimsby Town and Derby, though his time at the latter was marred by injuries.

Embleton eyes a fresh start in his career with a potential move back to Bloomfield Road after facing setbacks in recent years. Seasiders’ coach Neil Critchley acknowledges Embleton’s impact during his previous spell, stating, “He was very good for us… He’s someone we remember fondly because of his time here, but he’s obviously Sunderland’s player.” While looking to bolster the squad in specific areas like midfield, Critchley refrains from discussing names in detail.
