Leicester City manager Steve Cooper has offered a concise assessment of Tom Cannon’s situation within the squad.

Recent reports indicated that Sunderland made a bid of approximately £5 million for the striker, sparking interest from other Championship clubs looking to swoop in before the transfer window closes. Apart from Sunderland, clubs like Norwich City, Stoke City, and Sheffield United are among those eyeing the 21-year-old forward. Cannon, an Irish international, joined Leicester from Everton last year but has seen limited game time with just three starts and 13 substitute appearances, contributing three goals and two assists during his tenure.

Despite being on the bench for Leicester’s season opener against Tottenham, Cannon was left out of the squad entirely for the subsequent match against Fulham. His playing time has drastically reduced since March, with only 15 minutes of action at the senior level. Recent reports suggested that Sunderland, initially in the running for his signature, have withdrawn from the race for Cannon.
