Derby County bid farewell to a total of nine players this summer, with the departure of six players at the end of the season along with Scott Loach’s retirement from professional football. Two players were loaned out, Darren Robinson to Hartlepool United and Tyrese Fornah to League Two side Salford City.

Fornah, who controversially moved from Nottingham Forest to Derby County the previous year, only managed nine starts in League One during his time with the Rams. Despite making a brief appearance in Derby’s opening day loss to Blackburn Rovers, Fornah quickly secured a loan move to Salford City shortly after.

The 24-year-old midfielder’s departure from Pride Park was expected, and it was revealed that he was close to joining another club before Paul Scholes, the former Manchester United midfielder and Salford co-owner, intervened and persuaded Fornah to sign for Salford City instead.

Since joining Salford City on loan, Fornah has featured in both of the team’s League Two matches, putting in solid performances on the pitch. While he has shown promise with stats like completing 88% of his long balls and excelling in ground duels, Fornah still has room to grow and make a more significant impact.

With his contract expiring next summer and facing tough competition in Derby’s squad, Fornah will need to deliver exceptional performances in League Two to potentially secure a future with the Rams, especially if they remain in the Championship next season.
