Reflecting on his positioning during the second goal, he remarked, “I was aligned with our possession strategy. Upon losing the ball, I aimed to swiftly return to my intended spot, which I couldn’t reach optimally.”

He pointed out, “I’m content with the other aspects of my performance, aiding the team from the rear. While we fell short of our desired outcome, I will scrutinize my performance, along with the team’s, to identify areas for improvement.”
Addressing whether he was surprised by Kyogo’s shot, Butland dismissed the notion. He stated, “Kyogo’s intent was evident. My positioning adjustment was impeded by the sudden turnover. I assess whether I could have been positioned differently initially and my subsequent reaction. I’m equally dismayed by this goal, like any other conceded.”
