Albion’s head coach, Carlos Corberan, has earned the title of “a brilliant obsessive” from one of his counterparts in the Championship. Luke Williams, the head coach of Swansea City, crossed paths with Corberan for the first time in senior football during their recent encounter, where the Baggies secured a 1-0 win at The Hawthorns.
Williams, a former Swindon and Bristol City coach at the age of 43, had nothing but glowing admiration for the Spaniard. Their first encounter dates back to when Williams managed Bristol City’s under-23s, facing a Leeds youth team under the guidance of Corberan, who had worked in various roles under Marcelo Bielsa.
Speaking about the experience of facing Corberan’s team, Williams remarked, “You can see from the way the team plays that everyone is on the same page. Corberan’s tactical awareness poses significant challenges for opponents. His exceptional work ethic and dedication to his craft are truly commendable, and I hold immense respect for him.”
