In his pursuit of a managerial comeback, former Derby County boss Billy Davies is setting his sights on a return to the helm and remains flexible about the location.
Having been away from management since departing Nottingham Forest in 2014 amidst tumultuous times, Davies reflects on a successful career that saw him achieve notable milestones with clubs like Preston and Derby. Eager to immerse himself back into the intensity of football management, he has been actively engaging with clubs across Europe, seeking insights from various stakeholders in the game.
When asked about his future plans, Davies shared with Not the Old Firm, “I’m keeping my options open whether it leads me to Scotland, England, or beyond. I’ve been exploring opportunities in different regions—recently in Portugal and soon in Austria to gain diverse perspectives and potential opportunities. While some discussions may not have materialized yet, I’m optimistic and prepared to embark on new challenges. Looking forward is key, aiming to make fresh memories and achieve success wherever the next chapter takes me.”
Aside from his managerial endeavors, Davies highlights the importance of mentorship and involvement in off-field matters, emphasizing the significance of adapting to the modern managerial landscape. Expressing pride in his past achievements, Davies asserts, “The drive, passion, and hunger for victory are still ingrained in me, fundamental to my coaching philosophy. Each club has its direction, priorities, and managerial preferences. My focus remains on personal growth, continuous learning, and embracing the dynamic evolution of the sport through dialogue with diverse perspectives.”
