“Tottenham is eyeing a 23-year-old highly-rated centre-back”

November 5, 2023

As we approach 2024, Tottenham Hotspur, currently leading the Premier League, are reportedly interested in Aberdeen player Slobodan Rubezic. Under the guidance of Ange Postecoglou, Spurs have regained their status as a formidable team and are actively seeking reinforcements in the January transfer window.

Rubezic, a 23-year-old center-back who joined Aberdeen last summer, has made a name for himself as a reliable player. His versatility allows him to also function as a defensive midfielder, making him a suitable fit for Postecoglou’s style of play, which emphasizes technical skills and bringing the ball out from the back.

While Tottenham already boasts a strong central defensive pairing in Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero, adding Rubezic to the fold would provide valuable cover and rotational options for the manager.

The Montenegrin international excels in aerial duels and possesses a keen ability to intercept passes, making him an asset for teams that rely on counterattacks. With Tottenham’s attack finding their rhythm once again this season, Rubezic’s quick transitions from defense to attack could unlock new possibilities.

However, there are areas for Rubezic to improve before making the leap to the highly competitive Premier League. In his 19 appearances for Aberdeen, he has already accumulated seven bookings. If he desires to impress in English football, he will need to temper his aggression and discipline on the field.
