According to FootballTransfers, West Ham has expressed interest in acquiring Tottenham Hotspur outcast Eric Dier as part of David Moyes’ efforts to bolster the team’s depth.

The report, published on 1 January, indicates Moyes’ intention to secure a seasoned player for his squad during the January transfer window, with initial communications already initiated with Spurs.

Allegedly, the club views the 29-year-old as a center-back in the mold of Harry Maguire, whom they had been linked with during the summer transfer window. With Dier’s contract set to expire in 2024, Tottenham may opt to offload the player for a reduced fee instead of risking his departure as a free agent at the end of the season.

It appears that the England international no longer features in Ange Postecoglou’s plans, having made just one start and four Premier League appearances. Dier’s altered status represents a stark contrast to his prior standing as a trusted and esteemed figure at the club before Postecoglou’s arrival, with his role marginalized following the recruitment of Micky van de Ven and the emergence of Emerson Royal and Ben Davies at center-back.
