Brighton’s legend Glenn Murray offered his comments on the sad incident when Paul Onuachu twisted his knee during Liverpool’s latest victory against Southampton.
Liverpool won a difficult game against the strong Southampton, having scored the final three goals in the match, with Mohamed Salah scoring both of his goals during the last half an hour of the match at Anfield stadium.
Onuachu, starting his first game of the season, was forced to leave the pitch in the 52nd minute after a studs up tackle by Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo on a counter attacking run changed the complexion of the game.
To the contentious challenge, Glenn Murray stepped up to defend Gakpo by saying it was just meant to stop the break. Murray talked to BBC Radio 5 Live and said, “There is nothing with ill-intent in the challenge made by Gakpo on Onuachu; he merely wanted to stop the play.”
While Liverpool’s win means they are now 16 points clear in the Premier League, Southampton continues to fight problems and remains near the bottom of the table, fighting against relegation.
