Celtic remain eager to strengthen their attacking options before the January transfer window closes early next week, with another centre-forward still on Martin O’Neill’s wish list.
That stance has not changed despite the recent arrival of Tomas Cvancara, who joined on loan from Borussia Monchengladbach until the end of the season with an option to buy. The Czech international was handed a baptism of fire at Tynecastle last weekend, starting against Hearts on his Premiership debut. Cvancara impressed in a demanding fixture, setting up Hyun-jun Yang’s goal, but he is yet to open his own account as Celtic continue the search for a consistent replacement for Kyogo Furuhashi.

Reports now suggest the Hoops are assessing further attacking options who could both challenge Cvancara and represent an upgrade on the striker they sold last year. The Daily Record claims Celtic are monitoring Kasper Hogh’s situation at Bodo/Glimt as the deadline approaches.
A decision on the 25-year-old is expected soon after he played a decisive role in sending the Norwegian champions into the Champions League play-off round on Wednesday night, scoring the winning goal against Atletico Madrid. Celtic and Norwich City are said to be waiting to see how Hogh responds, with Bodo/Glimt’s continued European progress potentially tempting him to stay put.
Norwich have reportedly already tabled a £6.9 million bid for the Denmark youth international, which underlines the level of investment Celtic would need if the striker becomes available.
Why Hogh fits Celtic’s needs
Since Kyogo’s £10 million move to Rennes last January, Celtic have lacked a dependable source of goals. Cvancara’s career record suggests he may not be a prolific scorer on a weekly basis, having never surpassed 12 goals in a single season and managing just one strike in all competitions during the current campaign.
Kyogo’s consistency in front of goal was a major asset during his time in Glasgow, making his departure particularly damaging. However, Hogh’s recent form hints that he could fill that void, and perhaps offer even more.
The Bodo/Glimt forward has delivered on the biggest stage, scoring twice against Manchester City and netting the winner against Atletico Madrid within the space of nine days. Club managing director Frode Thomassen has described him as a leading figure in the squad, and his blend of physicality and clinical finishing has stood out in Europe.
Domestically, Hogh scored 17 goals in 28 Eliteserien appearances during the 2025 season, showing he can maintain high standards at league level as well as against elite opposition. Those numbers contrast sharply with Kyogo’s final campaign at Celtic, where he scored ten league goals from an expected goals total of 13.62 and struggled in physical duels. In the Champions League, Kyogo managed just three goals in 19 appearances, a figure Hogh has already matched in a matter of days against top-class opponents.
All of that explains why Celtic are weighing up a significant move before the window closes. If Hogh signals a willingness to leave Norway despite Bodo/Glimt’s Champions League progress, the pressure will be on the board to act decisively and give O’Neill the striker he believes can lead the line at Parkhead.
