Hugh Keevins’ ‘Woefully Short’ Celtic Attack Rant BACKFIRES as Maeda and Yang RUN RIOT Against Motherwell!

Celtic have left Hugh Keevins looking foolish once again after a convincing win over Motherwell.

It is fast becoming a pattern. The veteran journalist and radio pundit has developed a habit of tipping against Martin O’Neill’s side this month, and has been proved wrong on each occasion. He predicted Celtic would lose on both of their visits to Ibrox in March, and had tipped them for defeat on both trips to Tynecastle this season, though at least one of those calls proved correct.

Speaking on Clyde Superscoreboard before the Motherwell match, Keevins argued that Celtic were woefully short of firepower, singled out the absence of Auston Trusty as a significant problem, and pointed to Motherwell’s attractive style of play as reasons to back the home side. He spoke glowingly of Jens Berthel Askou’s work at Fir Park while simultaneously tipping his team to win the match.

In the end, just about everything Keevins got wrong, he got wrong. Daizen Maeda and Hyunjun Yang both shone, with Yang taking the man of the match award after scoring twice. Tomas Cvancara added a further goal from the bench, while Liam Scales and Benjamin Arthur looked a composed and capable partnership at the back, precisely the position Keevins had identified as a vulnerability.

Celtic now turn their attention to a demanding run of fixtures before the split. They face back-to-back away trips to Dundee, having already suffered defeats to both Dundee sides earlier in the season. They then host St Mirren before meeting them again in the Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden. St Mirren will have a new manager in place by then following Stephen Robinson’s departure to Aberdeen, where he drew his first game in charge against Falkirk.

The Dundee clubs meet each other at Dens Park on Sunday, while third-placed Rangers travel to a managerless St Mirren in Paisley.
