On-loan forward Tomas Cvancara has laid down his own personal challenge at Celtic, with the striker asserting that he wants a permanent transfer this summer.
The Czech Republic international has impressed since arriving on loan from Bundesliga giants Borussia Monchengladbach last month, netting one goal for Martin O’Neill’s side at the time of writing.
Additionally, his two assists for Yang Hyun-jun and Julian Araujo against Hearts and Kilmarnock have not gone unnoticed. In the case of the latter, his delivery to the Mexican proved crucial, as the right-back scored in the final minute of stoppage time to secure all three points last time out.
Speaking to the Celtic FC Podcast, Cvancara admitted that a permanent stay is firmly on his mind. “I want to prove myself and prove why I came,” the 25-year-old admitted.
“Maybe, if I’m going to be good enough, show the board and everyone that they have to sign me for the future. This is my goal. I will just try to do my best.”
On his international ambitions, he added, “It would be an honour again, but to be honest, this is not my goal in the future.
“I would say that I want more focus on the club, that I want to prove that I am good enough, that I deserve to be here, that I want to score goals, make assists, and help the team.
“This is, for me, the closest steps in my career, and if they call me up, they call me up, if they didn’t, they didn’t, but I want to prove that I am good enough to be in Celtic.
