The January transfer window has barely opened, yet Paris FC are already pushing to complete a major signing. According to L’Équipe, the Ligue 1 side have lodged an offer for Angers striker Sidiki Chérif, but their approach has been turned down.
Crystal Palace were reported by Le Parisien last week to be tracking the 19 year old, who has enjoyed an impressive first half of the season. Chérif has scored four times and played a key role in Angers sitting tenth in the table at the winter break. Alongside Prosper Peter, he has helped cover the loss of Esteban Lepaul, who departed late in the summer window.
However, Chérif’s future now appears uncertain. Interest in the young forward is growing across the continent, with Paris FC emerging as the most aggressive suitor so far. Their bid, believed to be worth €23 million, fell short of Angers’ valuation, with the club holding out for a fee closer to €30 million.
Crystal Palace and AC Milan have both been credited with interest, and L’Équipe add that Villarreal have now entered the race as competition for the highly rated French attacker intensifies.
