“Alan Shearer Drops Truth Bomb About Celtic and Rangers – Premier League Icon Unveils Deep Regret Concerning Fierce Rivals!”

January 7, 2024

Football legend Alan Shearer believes that the Scottish giants, Celtic and Rangers, won’t ever grace the pitches in England, despite his personal desire to witness it happen.

The all-time leading scorer in the English Premier League delved into the eternal fan debate, asserting that these fierce rivals would elevate the already affluent league. Shearer, a Newcastle legend who was once linked to a potential move to Parkhead during Kenny Dalglish’s Celtic tenure, admires the colossal stature of both Glasgow clubs, acknowledging their prolonged connections to a departure from Scottish football.

While praising the electric atmospheres of Ibrox and Celtic Park, Shearer expressed on The Rest is Football podcast, “The atmosphere in those grounds is amazing. The support they have around the world is fantastic, so they are two giant clubs. Absolutely, it would be brilliant if they could be in the Premier League. But I don’t think we are ever going to see it – it’s never going to happen.”

The clamor for Celtic and Rangers to transition south intensified in the early 2000s but ultimately never materialized. With the established top six in the Premier League raking in substantial revenues, the prospect of such a move seems unlikely in the foreseeable future.

Presently, both Celtic and Rangers, staunchly opposed to the recent Super League proposals, are focused on securing guaranteed access to the Champions League next season. This pursuit guarantees eight fixtures and a significant increase in TV and gate revenues.
