Ally McCoist found it impossible to stifle his amusement when Rangers player Fabio Silva was accused of a strange “dive” against Hearts. The real hero of the day was Cyriel Dessers, whose brace secured a Scottish Cup final spot for the Light Blues and set the stage for an epic showdown against Celtic next month at the national stadium. In the dying moments of the game at Hampden, Dessers had a chance for a hat-trick when he found himself with an open goal after breezing past Craig Gordon.

Rather than taking the shot himself, Dessers decided to pass the ball to Silva, who had an easy opportunity to score. However, Silva inexplicably tumbled in the penalty box without any pressure from the Hearts’ defense, leading to widespread confusion. When pressed for an explanation on Premier Sports, commentator Michael Stewart didn’t mince his words, calling it a dive.

McCoist, in an attempt to defend Silva, suggested that the ball might have been slightly behind him, causing the stumble. Watching the replay, McCoist couldn’t contain his laughter and remarked, “We shouldn’t laugh. I’m not sure if he just lost his footing.”

After the match, the Rangers legend continued to dwell on the incident, seeking input from Alan Hutton and Robert Snodgrass, saying, “I’m still puzzled by what happened there. Can one of you two enlighten me? Oh my goodness. What really surprised me was Dessers choosing to pass the ball.”
