Jason Cundy has shared his thoughts on the potential appointment of Kieran McKenna from Ipswich Town as Chelsea’s next manager.

Following Mauricio Pochettino’s departure, Chelsea has been linked with the 38-year-old McKenna. Having achieved success at Ipswich Town by leading them to consecutive promotions, McKenna has garnered a strong reputation within the football community.

Despite his accomplishments at Portman Road, Cundy believes that McKenna’s lack of experience managing in the Premier League could make his appointment by Chelsea a peculiar choice. While acknowledging McKenna’s work at Ipswich, Cundy expressed reservations about his suitability for the top-flight role.

Cundy voiced his concerns on Talksport, stating, “I’d find it a very, very strange appointment. I can’t sit here and say I’d be delighted because he’s an unknown quantity. He’s never managed a game in the Premier League.”

McKenna joined Ipswich Town in December 2021 and guided the team to a commendable 11th-place finish in League One. His leadership led the club to secure automatic promotion to the Championship in the following season with a second-place finish and a remarkable points tally of 98.

Now, as McKenna’s managerial prowess garners interest from clubs like Brighton and Manchester United, significant decisions lie ahead for him.
