Chris Jack reveals shocking allegations from Saudi sources about Rangers duo amidst escalating summer transfer speculation

Sources from Saudi Arabia have acknowledged ongoing discussions about a possible departure of Rangers duo James Tavernier and Connor Goldson from Ibrox this summer, as reported by journalist Chris Jack.

Speculations have circulated linking the two players with a move to Saudi Arabia in the upcoming transfer window, with indications that Steven Gerrard is interested in securing their services in the Middle East [Daily Record, 24 April].

While it remains uncertain whether concrete offers will materialize for Tavernier and Goldson, Jack, speaking on the Rangers Review YouTube channel, emphasized that the rumors persist in Saudi Arabia (23 May, 14:15).

“Besides Jack Butland, the forthcoming departures of Tavernier and Goldson will be significant topics of discussion in the coming weeks. I had a conversation with a contact in Saudi about this recently, and the interest in these players joining Steven Gerrard’s team is very much alive there as well,” Jack revealed.

The performance of Tavernier and Goldson in Glasgow has been below expectations in recent months. While Goldson was temporarily removed from the starting lineup for rotation purposes, his failure to regain his spot speaks volumes about his situation, particularly with the emergence of new defensive options at Ibrox.

In contrast, Tavernier has been a consistent presence for Rangers throughout the ups and downs of the season. It is unlikely that the club will seek to offload him unless a substantial offer is presented.

Should a compelling bid emerge for either player, decisions will need to be taken, but Rangers appear inclined to retain Tavernier unless a lucrative opportunity arises.
