“Talks opened over move to White Hart Lane” – Fabrizio Romano confirms Spurs have approach Top-class star defender to join Ange Postecoglou’s side over mediocre Man Utd

Fabrizio Romano has stated that Tottenham has initiated discussions to secure the services of French defender Jean-Clair Todibo.

The center-back from Nice has been connected with a potential move to Spurs in January, a development corroborated by several reports. Journalist Tom Barclays earlier indicated that the club has commenced negotiations with Nice regarding the possible acquisition of the defender.

Now, Romano has echoed a similar sentiment, asserting that the clubs have indeed begun talks concerning Todibo, who holds a prominent place on Tottenham’s radar. Romano admitted that negotiating with Nice is challenging, but the dialogue has commenced.

In addition, he confirmed that Tottenham has already engaged in discussions with the player in recent days, adding that Todibo is also a target for Manchester United.

Romano shared the update on X:

“Understand Tottenham have now opened talks to sign Jean Clair Todibo in January.”

“He’s high on Tottenham list, not easy deal with OGC Nice — but talks now starting.”

“Spurs spoke also to player’s camp in the recent days.”

“Todibo remains also on Man United list since June.”

The reported cost of the defender is around £35m, which could potentially represent a shrewd investment for Spurs. Todibo is widely regarded as one of the standout defenders in Ligue 1, and his potential addition would address Tottenham’s pressing need for defensive reinforcement in light of their current squad predicament.
