Bogle later admitted on Sky Sports that he was clueless about how the opening goal came to be awarded to him, though he accepted the stat. He revealed that Calvert-Lewin was fuming with the referee for denying him the goal after doing the heavy lifting.
Bogle noted that he preferred not to deliver the news to Calvert-Lewin himself, adding that the striker remained livid about the call after the final whistle despite being pleased with the three points. The former Everton forward understands the pressure on his shoulders, given that Leeds chose not to bring in another striker this transfer window. He demonstrated that he can dominate top-flight defenders when given proper service.
