Dermot Desmond faces a major decision when the summer arrives.
While many Celtic supporters would like to see Desmond step aside, along with figures such as Michael Nicholson, that outcome appears doubtful given the board’s track record of digging in.
That raises the obvious question: who will the key decision-maker in the Parkhead boardroom choose as Celtic’s next manager?
Martin O’Neill may currently be in the dugout, but he has been clear that he has no interest in staying on long-term or beyond the summer.
And while one Celtic legend has ruled himself out, Andy Walker believes another iconic figure, Ange Postecoglou, will not be returning either.

Postecoglou is currently without a club following a turbulent and controversy-filled 2025 for the Treble-winning manager.
Despite lifting the Europa League with Tottenham, Postecoglou was dismissed by Spurs before taking the Nottingham Forest role, where his tenure lasted no longer than Wilfried Nancy’s.
Speaking on Go Radio, Walker admitted he simply cannot envision a scenario where Postecoglou returns, citing the ‘so many strong and powerful memories’ he associates with his time at Celtic.
“Just on instinct (Postecoglou won’t return),” said Walker. “He was remarkably successful here. I think the fact that he has so many strong and powerful memories.
“I understood the attraction of going to Tottenham, at the time, made him go down south, but no, I can’t see him coming back here.
How costly will the Wilfried Nancy era prove to be for Celtic?
The Nancy period was disastrous, and O’Neill is doing everything within his power to ensure it does not end up being damaging.
However, Walker suggested that this spell could ultimately be the reason the Hoops fail to reclaim the Scottish title in May.
“There is a real danger, I think, of Celtic throwing away this title,” said Walker. “That’s what they have done with this appointment of Wilfried Nancy
“The amount of points they have dropped. They were almost level with Hearts at one point. But since Nancy come in, the amount of points that were dropped. It was never going to get better.
“Absolutely made the right call in making a change. You see with Martin O’Neill coming in, just getting back to basics. The basics are getting them so far.
