Celtic are closing in on the signing of forward Junior Adamu after reaching a verbal agreement with the player.
The 24 year old is now travelling to undergo a medical as the Hoops look to wrap up a loan move before the transfer window shuts on Monday. Discussions with SC Freiburg are continuing and are understood to be well advanced, with only the final details needing to be ironed out.
Adamu is said to be keen on the switch to Parkhead despite interest from elsewhere, and the deal is edging closer to completion.
Transfer expert Florian Plettenberg was first to break the news and confirmed the progress of the move on social media. He revealed that Celtic and Adamu have agreed terms, negotiations with Freiburg are at an advanced stage, and the striker is already en route for his medical. Plettenberg added that rival clubs are still attempting to intervene, but unless that happens, the transfer is expected to be finalised.
Alongside their pursuit of Adamu, Celtic are also reported to be working on a deal for Lorient winger Joel Mvuka before the deadline.
The 23 year old has featured 17 times in Ligue 1 this season and has registered two assists. He joined Lorient from Bodo Glimt three years ago and previously faced Celtic in the 2022 UEFA Conference League, appearing as a substitute in both legs as the Norwegian side progressed with a 5-1 aggregate victory.
Mvuka, who has been capped 16 times at under 21 level by Norway, is on Celtic’s radar according to French outlet Ouest France, with the report suggesting a move could be completed before the window closes.
