Rangers manager Derek McInnes has extended his well wishes to Celtic manager Martin O’Neill after learning that the 74-year-old has been admitted to the hospital.

Celtic released a statement confirming that O’Neill is currently recovering from a minor procedure and is expected to be discharged within 24 to 48 hours.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of Rangers’ Europa League fixture against Jagiellonia Bialystok, McInnes stated that he only knew the details already made public, but expressed support for his touchline rival and his family.

”En route from the airport, I was informed that Martin had obviously had a small procedure. I don’t know much more than that,” McInnes said. “Obviously it goes without saying that it’s not the best of news and hopefully Martin is okay, him and his family. I’m sure he will be back to work, if he can, as soon as possible.”
