Rangers are eyeing Lechia Gdansk winger as they scramble to bolster their wide options before the transfer window closes.
The Ibrox side’s search for additions on the flank has hit multiple speedbumps recently. Brighton turned down a bid for Amario Cozier-Duberry, while a move for Couhaib Driouech collapsed following his medical. Those setbacks have pushed Colombia international Mena back to the top of the target list.
According to Polish journalist Karolina Jaskulska, Lechia Gdansk are under financial pressure to sell at least one key asset. Mena, club captain Tomas Bobcek, or Ivan Zhelizko could be moved on to raise essential funds.
”Lechia needs money and need to earn on Mena, Tomas Bobcek or Ivan Zhelizko,” Jaskulska noted. “Transfer window is coming to an end, so Lechia need to negotiate.”
Rangers are willing to spend around £3 million to secure the right-winger. While Lechia Gdansk originally held out for a £3.4 million fee, their need for immediate cash flow gives the Scottish side leverage to strike a discounted deal. Mena is reportedly open to a transfer, with potential European football acting as a major incentive.
However, waiting too long carries a distinct risk. If Lechia Gdansk generate funds by selling Bobcek or Zhelizko first, they may no longer need to sacrifice their captain. Moving swiftly would ensure Derek McInnes secures the dynamic winger his squad desperately requires.
