A Labour peer has intensified his grievance concerning Celtic F.C. by taking it to FIFA, following a response from Neil Doncaster to his allegations that Celtic’s victory was “predetermined”.
George Foulkes, who previously served as both an MP and MSP and chaired Heart of Midlothian F.C. between 2004 and 2005, was present at Saturday’s Scottish Premiership title decider at Celtic Park.
He later stated that he had submitted an official complaint to the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL), and received a response from Doncaster.
He said the reply failed to address his concerns, prompting him to escalate the matter further.
The 84-year-old posted on X:
“I sent a formal complaint to the SPFL, to which Neil Doncaster kindly sent me their statement in reply.
This does not answer my concerns so I am escalating it to my contact in FIFA who will deal with it when their office opens tomorrow”
The match itself was temporarily halted after supporters entered the pitch following a late goal from Callum Osmand. Officials subsequently confirmed that referee Don Robertson had already signalled full time.
Earlier, Foulkes had called for “some sort of inquiry” into the events.
On the pitch, Hearts had taken the lead through Lawrence Shankland in the first half, before Arne Engels equalised for Celtic from the penalty spot just before the interval.
Second-half goals from Daizen Maeda and Osmand secured victory for the home side, sealing their fifth consecutive Scottish Premiership title.
