Elland Road bosses are ramping up transfer activity ahead of the new Premier League campaign, with Swiss international Nico Elvedi emerging as the latest target.

With the season opener fast approaching, the 49ers Enterprises ownership group has already secured three fresh arrivals: Harry Wilson, Tarik Muharemovic, and goalkeeper James Trafford. However, reports indicate that Leeds could welcome up to four additional first-team recruits before the transfer window shuts.

Key positions still targeted for reinforcement include:

  • A secondary goalkeeper
  • A full-back
  • A central midfielder
  • An attacking midfielder
  • A frontline striker

Squad Movement and Potential Outgoings

The potential incoming business comes amid significant roster turnover at the club. Forward Joe Gelhardt is finalizing a move to Hull City following a completed medical, while winger Largie Ramazani is drawing heavy interest from Valencia alongside rival suitors. Goalkeeper Lucas Perri is also en route to Turin to finalize his departure.

Meanwhile, central defender Sebastiaan Bornauw appears set to exit Elland Road. German outfit Hamburg has intensified negotiations over the past week and remains optimistic about sealing a transfer.

Agreement Reached with Elvedi

To address Bornauw’s imminent departure, Leeds turned to Borussia Mönchengladbach center-back Nico Elvedi. According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, the Whites reached a complete agreement on personal terms for a contract running through 2029.

Gladbach is willing to sanction a sale for the Switzerland international if their valuation is met. Leeds is currently finalizing an official opening bid to present to the Bundesliga side.

Strategic Fit: Elvedi previously worked under Leeds manager Daniel Farke during his spell in Germany. His top-flight experience and regular international caps offer a clear upgrade for a backline looking to build on last season’s 14th-place finish.
