Oliver Antman’s departure from Rangers is officially finalized, with players like Youssef Chermiti and Djeidi Gassama leading the tributes for the outgoing winger.

Rangers announced the transfer late Wednesday evening, confirming that the Finnish international has secured a move to Belgian side Anderlecht. Antman leaves Ibrox just a single year after joining the club from Dutch outfit Go Ahead Eagles.

While his time on the pitch yielded modest returns, Rangers managed to turn a minor profit on the deal. The winger registered just one goal and three assists in the Scottish Premiership last season, a stark contrast to his impressive output of eight goals and 16 assists in the Netherlands during the 2024-25 campaign.

Despite those struggles, Antman leaves on good terms with both the fans and the squad. Supporters appreciated his work rate, and turning a profit of roughly £500,000 helped ease any lingering frustration over his numbers.

His popularity in the dressing room was clear across social media following the announcement:

  • Youssef Chermiti summed up the mood by commenting a simple love heart on Antman’s farewell post.
  • Djeidi Gassama offered his encouragement with a cheerful “Yes Oli” and heart-eyes emoji.
  • Tuur Rommens added a brief “Good luck, Oli.”
  • Tochi Chukwuani and Mohamed Diomande also shared messages of support.

Further Departures on the Horizon at Ibrox?

Antman’s departure might not be the last exit from the Rangers frontline before the transfer window closes.

Manager Derek McInnes is already facing a thin selection of wide players, and those options could shrink further. Northern Ireland international Ross McCausland is heavily linked with a move away, with Luton Town named as a potential landing spot.

While McInnes will naturally be reluctant to lose more width in his squad, incoming business remains possible. Rangers continue to be linked with potential attacking replacements, including Amario Cozier-Duberry and Jahnoah Markelo, as fans await further movement in the market.
