Palace Agree ‘Obscene’ Fee for ‘One-Goal’ Flop to Finally Replace Mateta

Crystal Palace have stepped up their pursuit of Wolves forward Jorgen Strand Larsen after submitting a bid worth £43m, according to talkSPORT.

The Eagles are determined to bring in a new number nine as questions continue to surround Jean-Philippe Mateta’s future at Selhurst Park. Palace have already added Evann Guessand on loan from Aston Villa, but that deal alone is not enough for the club to feel comfortable about letting Mateta leave.

AC Milan remain in discussions over a move for the French striker, and Palace want another attacking option secured before giving the green light to any departure.

Strand Larsen has emerged as Oliver Glasner’s leading target, with the Palace boss long admiring the Wolves forward. The Norwegian was previously close to leaving Molineux last summer when a switch to Newcastle fell through, and Palace have now moved decisively to try and land him.

The proposal on the table is understood to guarantee £43m, with a further £5m available through performance related bonuses, as the south London club look to finalise a deal and reshape their forward line.
