Alan Brazil Claims Ally McCoist Will Be Furious Over Post-Split Fixture Arrangements
TalkSPORT presenter Alan Brazil has suggested Ally McCoist will be “spitting feathers” following the SPFL’s release of the post-split Premiership fixtures, which he believes favour Celtic over Rangers.
The final five fixtures for each title contender were confirmed yesterday, with the schedule set to commence after this weekend’s ordinary season concludes and a break for Scottish Cup semi-finals. A key point of contention involves Hearts visiting Celtic on the final day, contrary to the usual convention that league leaders host their last match.
Brazil, speaking on talkSPORT, claimed Rangers have been handed a tougher schedule than their rivals. “Rangers supporters are going crazy, mental. They are raging,” he stated. Former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor questioned the selection process, asking: “How did they pick them?” Brazil admitted uncertainty but noted the perception among Rangers fans that the draw was fixed, adding: “If you talk to a Rangers supporter I picked them.”
The fixture list sees Celtic host both Hearts and Rangers during the run-in, while Rangers face a more demanding sequence. Brazil suggested McCoist, the former Rangers manager and current pundit, would be particularly incensed by the arrangements. “It wasn’t Ally, put it that way. He will be spitting feathers,” Brazil said. “A pal of mine was on right away saying ‘this is a disgrace, Celtic have got it easy.'”
Despite the controversy, Brazil believes Hearts have effectively eliminated themselves from contention. “I think Hearts have blown it, I’m sad to say. I think it’s between Celtic and Rangers. Celtic supporters should be thanking their lucky stars that they are still in it.”
The SPFL has not detailed the methodology behind fixture allocation, leaving room for speculation and dissatisfaction among supporters of the Ibrox club.
