Celtic superfan Rod Stewart has again waded into the debate around the club, this time by phoning the Daily Record to take aim at columnist Keith Jackson.
The music icon had only a day earlier gone on talkSPORT to back the Celtic board over their January transfer dealings. His comments came as the Celtic Fans Collective confirmed plans to boycott Saturday’s match against Dundee, citing a number of long-running grievances that include frustration with the club’s activity in the winter window.
Jackson was among those who criticised Celtic’s approach in January, particularly in light of the club’s reported cash reserves, and that criticism clearly struck a nerve with Stewart.

Stewart remains a divisive figure among the Celtic support, with his strong views on football and wider issues often sparking heated reactions around Parkhead. While many fans agree with Jackson’s concerns about the club sitting on significant funds, Stewart very much does not.
Calling the Daily Record hotline, the 81 year old did not hold back as he dismissed Jackson’s focus on Celtic’s finances. Stewart questioned why the journalist was so fixated on the club’s bank balance and suggested it stemmed from jealousy, before telling him bluntly to get a life.
Stewart has rarely been out of the spotlight during a turbulent 2025–26 campaign. He drew attention earlier in the season after publicly celebrating the sacking of Wilfried Nancy, travelled to Rotterdam to watch Celtic beat Feyenoord, and has consistently voiced his backing for Martin O’Neill.
What the Celtic Fans Collective want
Celtic chairman Brian Wilson addressed the proposed boycott on Thursday night but stopped short of responding directly to the demands laid out by the Celtic Fans Collective.
The group has set out three key conditions. They want Michael Nicholson removed from his role as chief executive, arguing that his leadership and communication have fallen short. They are also calling for the return of the Green Brigade, who remain barred from matches, and for restrictions on fan media to be lifted so they can once again cover both the men’s and women’s teams.
