We are now inside the final five days of the transfer window.
Time is running out for Scottish Premiership clubs to conclude their dealings ahead of Monday’s deadline.
Lower-league sides can still operate in the loan market after that, but the top flight’s dozen clubs must finalise their squads for title bids, European ambitions, top-six pushes and survival battles.
So let’s get straight to it.
Unsurprisingly, champions Celtic remain in urgent need of additions.
Martin O’Neill informed the board on his return that several new faces were required and so far he has only managed to secure Tomas Cvancara.
The Irishman is keen to add a central defender, a winger and another goalkeeper.
Naturally, O’Neill has recently been keeping tabs on Motherwell’s in-form wide man Tawanda Maswinhise.
The Fir Park star has been one of the standout performers this season and sits among the Premiership’s leading scorers with 16 goals.
However, the reality is there has been no approach from Celtic to either Motherwell or the player’s representatives.
Could that change in the days ahead and would they be able to tempt Motherwell into selling?
Fir Park boss Jens Berthel Askou has already stated that none of his key players will be sold before the end of the campaign, but despite Motherwell being firmly in the European mix, positions can soften.
The Steelmen have brought in striker Eythor Bjorgolfsson and are now seeking a centre-back to cover the absence of Stephen Welsh.
In truth, if they hold firm they will eventually get Welsh back, but Celtic are unlikely to act until they reinforce that position themselves.
Rangers are also monitoring Motherwell midfielder Elliot Watt. A recent injury has stalled any immediate move, but the Ibrox club could revisit the situation at the end of the season.
Rangers have strengthened since re-entering the title conversation in recent weeks.
They have added Andreas Skov Olsen, Tochi Chukwuani and Tuur Rommens. Their focus now is a striker and a bid has been submitted for Hansa Rostock forward Ryan Naderi.
The powerful frontman fits the profile Danny Rohl has been seeking since taking charge.
With Danilo set to depart, space and funds will be freed up and Rangers are hopeful of completing the Naderi deal before Tuesday.
League leaders Hearts remain the side to beat in the Premiership.
They have already completed several signings and Derek McInnes plans to add more attacking options before the deadline.
He is eager to recruit another striker. Rogers Mato’s move is complete, but they want an additional centre-forward as they chase the title.
Could Bobby Wales come into the frame? McInnes knows him well from their time at Kilmarnock and Swansea City are open to a loan, with strong interest from League One and League Two in England.
Across the capital, Hibs are on the verge of confirming Owen Elding as their first January arrival.
The young striker is set to join from Sligo Rovers.
Meanwhile, Hellas Verona appear close to finalising a deal for Scotland international Kieron Bowie.
Record Sport revealed the £4.5 million bid earlier this week, with the Serie A club since increasing their offer.
If an agreement is reached — potentially as soon as today (Thursday) — Hibs will look to add another striker.
Sheffield Wednesday’s Bailey Cadamarteri is one they have already made an offer for.
Selling Bowie would give them extra financial leverage to push that deal forward.
VfL Bochum defender Felix Passlack is another target they are waiting on.
A move for Coventry City midfielder Kai Andrews — who previously impressed during a spell at Motherwell — is expected to follow Elding’s arrival.
Terms have been agreed with the German, but his club must line up a replacement before sanctioning the transfer.
Falkirk may still be active late in the window and are exploring options in the English market. There is also discussion around interest in Ross County striker Brian Graham.
Could a return to a former club be on the cards?
The experienced forward has been a key figure for the Bairns. Would the promise of regular first-team action tempt him back to the Highlands?
Aberdeen are pushing hard for a top-six finish and face a hectic close to the window.
The next arrival is likely to be Nigerian midfielder Afeez Aremu.
A £250,000 fee has been agreed with Kaiserslautern, but the Dons are awaiting a GB endorsement hearing today and, if successful, will then require a work permit.
Aberdeen are also continuing their search for a new manager and want to add another winger.
Record Sport broke news of Dante Polvara’s £250,000 switch to St Louis City and Peter Ambrose’s loan move to Diosgyor.
Both deals are expected to be wrapped up within the next 24 hours.
Kusini Yengi’s loan move to Cerezo Osaka has already been confirmed, with the J-League club holding an option to buy.
Dundee United have resolved their goalkeeper hunt by signing Ashley Maynard-Brewer. They have also agreed a pre-contract to bring in New Zealand international winger Jesse Randall from Auckland FC.
Further activity at Tannadice should not be ruled out. There is interest in Julius Eskesen and several fringe players. Should any depart — or if a bid arrives for Will Ferry — replacements would be sought.
Across the road, Dundee boss Steven Pressley is working to repel increasing interest in Luke Graham. Portsmouth have already seen multiple bids rejected and further English and European enquiries could follow.
Pressley is also aiming to add another striker, likely on loan from England, as cover for Ash Hay and Simon Murray.
St Mirren are targeting another midfielder and otherwise will only move to replace outgoing players.
There is interest in Miguel Freckleton and Killian Phillips.
