West Ham United have shifted their focus toward Leeds United forward Joel Piroe as negotiations continue over a potential move, per Sky Sports.
The East London club originally targeted AZ Alkmaar striker Troy Parrott following his 31-goal campaign last season. However, talks stalled over differing valuations, prompting West Ham to pursue Piroe as an alternative target.
Piroe joined Leeds from Swansea City in 2023 for a €14 million fee and has since netted over 34 goals in all competitions. Despite his past contributions, his playing time decreased significantly last season, limited to just two league starts without a goal.
Negotiations currently center on the structure of the transfer. West Ham favor a loan deal with an obligation to buy, allowing them to manage immediate finances while ensuring a permanent move. Leeds preference leans toward an immediate outright sale to generate funds for incoming transfers. A fee around £17 million, similar to West Ham’s proposal for Parrott, is expected to satisfy Leeds given Piroe’s reduced role.
With Piroe seeking regular first-team football and West Ham eager to secure a forward before the transfer deadline, discussions remain ongoing.
